If not then Batman will forever stand as the perfect example of how to do it properly. In the current climate it's unlikely that we'll ever see this type of game again. Unlike the sliding puzzles and other bizarre game elements that some games served up, Batman had some excellent Bionic Commando inspired platform sections, two massively impressive 3D vehicle sections (one for the Batmobile, one for the Batwing) and a puzzle game where you have to work out in which combinations the Joker's products are deadly. It succeeds by virtue of the fact that all the sub-games actually reflect the film very well. Yet while there are some dire examples of this type of game out there (Back To The Future Part II for example) some were very good indeed. There's a tendency to think that the reason so many film licences of the 80s and 90s failed was because they relied on the sub-game style originated by Ocean in it's original Robocop game. Its fun to play once but I won't be running back to do it again as there just isn't enough going for it and there are better Batman based games out there. But its not as great as everyone seems to be making it out to be in my opinion. Mix in two road based stages and you have a not too bad game. Just throw your batarang and use the batrope to scale up the platform levels. Split in two parts - one for each villain, Penguin and Joker - our hero battles his way. Its unique in that you can't jump or punch. Ocean Software - ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64. Ho hum.īut again its not so bad considering its made in 1989, and stands out when compared to some of the real duds that Ocean made back then. You can get through the game in about 20 minutes if you can deal with the difficult situations and thats all there is too it. Again its very short, it can be very difficult as well and it probably has one of the most anti climatic endings of a game. There are a few things that do hold it back. Keeps true enough to the film for the most part via locations and is short and to the point. Great music, variety of stages and situations. Adventures of Batman & Robin Konami 4 8 With pretty much every villain that Batman ever. The game has a lot of fun things going for it. Addams Family, The Ocean 3 5 A side scrolling adventure game.

Not as good as some make it out to be but given how bad a lot of movie adaptations were, especially those by Ocean that seemed to flood the computer based market oh so long ago, this is certainlly better rather than worse.
